Green Key Certification signifies compliance with stringent environmental standards, including responsible waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, and reduction of single-use plastics.
Several ibis hotels have implemented on-site water bottling plants, energy-efficient lighting, and sewage treatment plants (STPs) to recycle and reuse water for landscaping and flushing. These measures have substantially reduced resource consumption and carbon emissions across the portfolio.

Leadership Speaks on the Achievement
“Being awarded Green Key Certification at multiple ibis locations across India is a proud achievement for our teams,” said Tejus Jose, Director of Operations, ibis & ibis Styles India. “Sustainability is not a one-time goal but an ongoing journey. At ibis, we are focused on reducing our environmental footprint while creating positive social impact through community engagement and awareness. Our aim is to have every ibis hotel in India certified in the near future.”

Empowering Staff and Guests Towards Sustainability
Beyond operational initiatives, ibis India actively promotes sustainability awareness among its staff and guests. Through in-room information, training programmes, and eco-awareness signage, the brand encourages environmentally responsible behaviours that enhance both guest experience and operational efficiency.

Ongoing Audits and Future Goals
The Green Key Certification remains valid for one year and involves regular independent audits to ensure continuous adherence to sustainability standards. ibis India’s future plans include expanding the use of renewable energy, further reducing water consumption, and achieving complete elimination of single-use plastics across all properties.

A Step Towards Responsible Hospitality
Aligned with Accor’s global mission to pioneer sustainable hospitality, ibis India continues to innovate and scale its eco-friendly practices. With each new certification, the brand reinforces its commitment to ensuring that every guest stay contributes to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
