Deepak Thakur Appointed MD & CEO of Hinduja Renewables

October 13, 2025 | Chandigarh: Hinduja Renewables Energy Private Limited (HREPL), part of the diversified Hinduja Group, has announced the appointment of Deepak Thakur as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2025.

Seasoned Leader with Three Decades of Industry Experience

With over 30 years of experience across renewable energy, infrastructure, industrial products, and electronics, Deepak Thakur brings a wealth of leadership expertise to his new role. He has previously held senior positions at leading organizations including Mahindra Group, Reliance, Sterling & Wilson, L&T, Honeywell, and Thermax.

Thakur’s extensive experience spans the entire renewable energy value chain—from solar, wind, storage, and hybrid systems to project development, EPC, operations and maintenance, upstream technology, manufacturing, and asset monetization through Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs).

He succeeds Sumit Pandey, who has stepped down from his position as Managing Director and CEO.

A passionate advocate for clean energy and sustainability, Thakur has been instrumental in shaping India’s renewable energy landscape. Notably, he contributed to the formulation of the National Solar Thermal Policy in 2009, which laid the groundwork for India’s clean energy roadmap.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune and an MBA from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.
