Ubisoft Prepares Major Update Ahead of Upcoming Story Expansion
Ubisoft has announced a major free update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, set to launch on December 5. The update introduces a third-person camera mode and a New Game+ feature, bringing new ways to experience the world of Pandora. A fresh trailer released this week highlights the updated gameplay, showcasing smooth transitions between first- and third-person perspectives.
The update will be available at no additional cost for players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
Enhanced Gameplay Experience
Developed by Massive Entertainment, the update reworks several core systems, including animations, controls, audio, and camera mechanics, to fully support the new third-person mode. Players can freely switch between perspectives during exploration and combat, offering a more cinematic view of Pandora’s vibrant environments.
New Game+ Mode Adds Replayability
The long-awaited New Game+ feature also arrives with the December 5 update. It allows players to replay the main story while retaining all previously unlocked skills, weapons, and gear. Ubisoft says the mode introduces tougher enemies, a new skill tree, and access to enhanced equipment, catering to players looking for a greater challenge.
‘From the Ashes’ Expansion Launches December 19
Just two weeks later, on December 19, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will receive its next major story expansion, From the Ashes. Inspired by James Cameron’s upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash, the DLC continues the game’s narrative and expands Pandora’s playable world. The expansion is currently available for pre-order across all major platforms.
Ongoing Support for Pandora
Since its release on December 7, 2023, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has received consistent post-launch support, including story expansions like The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spires. Ubisoft has also rolled out multiple quality-of-life updates that improved combat balance, visual fidelity, and performance options—such as the addition of a 40 FPS mode.
With the upcoming update and expansion, Ubisoft continues to build on the game’s foundation, promising deeper immersion and more reasons to revisit the world of Pandora.
